Tasting by Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "This is the first release of this new 100% Cabernet Franc wine from Château Angélus. Deep garnet in color, the 2016 Hommage à Elisabeth Bouchet hits the mark with an intense, deep jammy nose blackberries, boysenberries and redcurrant jelly, to which are added suggestions of beef juice, black olives, damp earth and unsmoked cigars with hints of pencil lead and truffles. full-bodied bursts with vibrant, shimmering black and red fruits, encrusted with mineral accents and supported by firm, deliciously ripe, finely grained tannins. Electric sparks of lively acidity course through the dense core, offering incredible energy and freshness to the finale, leaving you wanting more. That this estate has managed to create such a complete and breathtaking beauty entirely from Cabernet Franc is a triumph and, I hope, not the last of its kind. A masterpiece! "
