Presentation of Ayala Champagne House

Colombian by birth, in 1850 Edmond (o) of AYALA settles in Champagne - at Château d'Aÿ to be exact. The château was the property of the Viscount de Mareuil, who soon taught Edmond the intricacies of the champagne trade. This is one of the oldest houses in Champagne. "Champagne AYALA, Société Anonyme". Unable to cope with the world economic crisis of the 1930s, House was sold to an English bank before being bought by a Champagne winegrower: René CHAYOUX.

René CHAYOUX trusted and respected Jean-Michel DUCELLIER, his partner since 1948, so much that he appointed DUCELLIER as his successor at the head of his company and estate. An estate made even more impressive by the acquisition in 1961 of the illustrious Château La Lagune, classified Troisième Cru Classé of the Médoc in the Haut-Médoc of Bordeaux. Since 1968, Jean-Michel has been looking after the fortune of the AYALA Champagne House and the Château LA LAGUNA. The House of AYALA, a family business, is one of the few to have remained independent. Jean-Michel and his son Alain DUCELLIER, now at the head of the company, run it with energy and enthusiasm. They are dedicated to the status of the House's name around the world, and proudly receive their clients in their superb Château de Mareuil-sur-Aÿ.
