The Barrat-Masson vineyard covers seven hectares. It is run in organic agriculture, from Villenauxe-la-Grande to Bethon, with grape varieties typical of the Champagne region: 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir.
In 2005, Loïc took over the family business in Bethon, which he will quickly plough. He practises there a sustainable viticulture which will start the conversion to organic viticulture in 2009.
After a rigorous selection, the grapes are pressed in the traditional Coquard press which is installed in the old barn. The precise separation of each marc allows the House to let the wine express the terroir on which it is grown.
It works particularly with the coeur de cuvée and vinifies each plot separately both in stainless steel vats in oak barrels and demi-muids. It is at the time of blending that this richness of wine will enable the house to produce precise cuvées.
The Maison Barrat Masson is the least intrusive possible to let the wines open up, as harmoniously as possible to the rhythm of nature.
The disgorgement is done in the respect of traditions: à la volée.
The assiduity and the accompaniment of the wines, allow Barrat-Masson Champagnes to reach an exceptional gustative quality in a great naturalness.
