Château de Beaucastel 2000 in Magnum
Chateauneuf du pape - Famille Perrin
Location: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, between Orange and Avignon, Château de Beaucastel rouge is a 70 hectare vineyard.
Terroir : Château de Beaucastel has about 110 hectares in a single block in the north of the appellation. The terroir is the archetypal Châteauneuf terroir: pebbles on the surface, clay, sand and limestone at depth. The vines are old and the organic farming practiced for over 50 years has allowed their roots to go deep into the soil. Beaucastel cultivates the thirteen grape varieties authorised by the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
Elaboration: Each grape variety is picked separately by hand. Vinification is carried out in truncated wooden vats for the reducing grape varieties (Syrah, Mourvèdre) and in traditional concrete and enamelled stoneware vats for the oxidative grape varieties (all the others). At the end of the malolactic fermentation, the Perrin family blends the different grape varieties, then the wine is aged in oak tuns for a year before being bottled.
Service: Around 15°C. If possible, remember to decant the wine.
