Le Montrachet grand cru 2022 - Blain Gagnard
-
Presentation of this great vintage: In 1999, Claudine and Jean-Marc received from Claudine's father, Jacques Gagnard, a 13-row plot of Le Montrachet. From the 2000 vintage, the Montrachet from this parcel is produced and bottled under the name Domaine Blain-Gagnard. Only one or two barrels of this wine are produced per vintage, from vines planted in 1934.
-
Tasting notes: The Montrachet is a Chardonnay at its best, with all its components in perfect balance. The Montrachet has power, concentration, a firm structure and is destined for long aging. The Montrachet also has more weight and richness than the other Grands Crus and yet it is also, in a way, the finest. It is almost equally divided between the two villages of Puligny and Chassagne and can be labeled "Le Montrachet" in Chassagne and simply "Montrachet" in Puligny.
-
Food and wine pairing: White Burgundy, with its rich texture and grilled flavors, goes well with white fish and shellfish, and its naturally high acidity can counterbalance cream-based sauces. It lends itself well to grilled fish, starchy foods, butter and roasted nuts.
