Bollinger PN VZ19: An extremely rare champagne
Champagne Bollinger
94/100 Parker
Tasted by : William Kelley
Tasting period: 2024 - 2040
Bollinger's latest Blanc de Noirs assemblage is NV Brut Blanc de Noirs PN VZ19. This cuvée is based mainly on the 2019 vintage, which makes up 52% of the blend, with a strong influence from the village of Verzenay, representing 40% of the wines used. It also includes 48% reserve wines, a quarter of which come from the 2009 vintage. All the tension of Verzenay is here, enriched by wines from Aÿ, Avenay-Val-d'Or, Tauxières and Mutigny.
While the blend may seem complex, the wine is immediately seductive. It reveals an expressive bouquet of yellow stone fruit, tangerine and praline. On the palate, it offers a pure, airy texture, both charming and generous, while retaining a lovely liveliness. The finish is marked by a pleasant saline touch.
Tasted with a dosage of six grams per liter, this edition doesn't radically surpass its previous 2018-based version - which isn't surprising, given the high proportion of reserve wines - but it does seem to be the most accomplished iteration of this cuvée to date.
