Château Calon Ségur 2000
Saint-Estèphe - 3rd Grand Cru Rated
94/100 Parker
Cellaring: Now to 2050.
Tasted in 2016 by Neal Martin: "Tasted from an ex-chateau bottle at the BI Wine & Spirits Calon-Segur dinner in London. The 2000 Calon Segur is one of those wines that reminds you how great the millennium vintage could be. Now fifteen years old, it has a bright, vivacious nose of red berries infused with aromas of ash and cigar box. The detail here is seductive and it "sings" Saint Estèphe. The palate is medium-bodied, with dense, firm tannins that form a rigid backbone, but it's wrapped in an abundance of tobacco-infused dark fruit and a superb line of acidity. It finishes with a bitter cherry twist on the finish that completes what is a deeply impressive Calon-Segur; it may well surpass the 2005."
