More about the Geoffroy house 

- Total vineyard : 14 hectares

- Annual production : 10 000 cases

- Grape varieties : 42% pinot noir, 39% pinot meunier, 19% chardonnay

- Presentation of the Champagne estate: Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy, who owns 14 hectares in the Marne Valley, is the fifth generation of his family to grow grapes in the region. Today, Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy and his father René cultivate 14 hectares of vines, including 11 in Cumières. A few parcels are located just across the border to the west in the neighboring village of Damery, while the rest are entirely in miller in the nearby village of Fleury-la-Rivière.

- The vines: Geoffroy's vines are on average 20 years old, with the oldest dating back to 1926. The viticulture is described as integrated pest management - it has a strong focus on sustainability, avoiding all chemical weed killers and employing methods such as planting cover crops, tilling the soil and encouraging the habitation of predatory insects to control vine pests.

- Tradition: They aim for the highest possible quality and ferment the wines in oak barrels for their Cuvée Sélectionnée [now called Cuvée Empreinte] and Brut Prestige [now called Cuvée Volupté]. The wines do not undergo malolactic fermentation, which gives them the nerve and aging potential that most Cumières Champagnes lack. When you talk to the young, well-educated Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy, you understand that this is a family with a passion for wine.
