Grand Millésime 2015 Brut - Champagne Gosset
A great vintage, an exceptional year. This cuvée is the reflection of a remarkable harvest. It is this criterion, which is decisive, that allows us to see whether or not a fine vintage wine is being made. This Gosset Grand Millésime is only the third with a dominant Pinot Noir, after the 1990 and 2006 vintages. In that year, we chose parcels where the Pinot Noirs were particularly fresh and fine. The Chardonnays were selected for their lively and aromatic character.
Comment from the Chef de Caves - Odilon de Varine: "We took advantage of this year of fresh and elegant wines to produce a vintage suitable for sharing.
TO THE EYE: An extremely fine and clustered effervescence. The colour is crystalline, bright and slightly golden.
NOSE: The nose is fruity, fresh and acidic. Both greedy and elegant, it expresses pastry notes and aromas of fresh fruit: nougat, frangipane, candied orange and mirabelle plum. A delicate note of pear passe-crassane with a touch of Williams pear liqueur can be detected.
ON THE MOUTH: A tonic wine, with a nice tension around fresh fruit aromas. Nectarine, yellow peach and a tangy note of rhubarb develop in the mouth. The finish is clean, frank, saline and mineral, with a touch of bitterness and verbena.
At the table: It goes wonderfully well with fruity or spicy dishes: chicken with lemongrass, lamb tagine with preserved lemon and almonds, roasted prawns and rice pilaf, but also grilled vegetables à la plancha. This cuvée is also a remarkable accompaniment to certain desserts such as rhubarb or lemon meringue pie.
