Located only 3 km south of Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, the former Clos Marey-Monge vineyard is near the centre of the Côte d'Or. With its 20 hectares, the Château de Pommard is the largest monopoly in Burgundy. It is a place where great architecture and passionate winemaking converge in the vineyards. Each year, the estate produces an average of 80,000 bottles of its Grand Vin and 20,000 bottles of Clos du Château. Welcome to the beautiful world of Pommard.
The Château de Pommard is more than just a wine estate. It's a way of life. It's a place to slow down, reconnect with the wonders of nature, walk in the vineyards and lead a happy and healthy life. This is where you will experience the five senses of good wine: the view of a beautiful vineyard, the sound of an opening bottle, the smell of an aromatic wine swirling inside the glass, the taste of an elegant wine on the palate and the sensation of a soft textured wine. The Château of Pommard is a place to fall in love with life.
The Carabello-Baum family now has the honour of leading the future of this estate since 2014. Michael Baum has great plans for the estate, since April 2016 the estate has switched to biodynamic cultivation and for the next few years he wants to give an international renown to the Château Pommard and in particular by developing marketing in the United States.
The Clos Marey-Monge, at the heart of the estate, has been producing one of the greatest expressions of Pinot Noir for over two millennia. In July 2015, UNESCO proclaimed the Clos a protected World Heritage Site of the Burgundy climat. The clay and limestone-rich terroir of Clos Marey-Monge makes it the largest and most interesting monopoly of the Côte d'Or. It is from these terroirs that the Château distills the very essence of Burgundy into three renowned wines - Vivant Micault, Clos Marey-Monge Monopole and Simone. Accompanying the wines of Clos Marey-Monge, they also produce Grand Cru, Premier Cru, Village and Burgundy wines from the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune appellations.
