Are you looking for great wine : Château l'Église Clinet 1947 ?
Rare wine from AOC Pomerol
100/100 Robert Parker
- When to drink this wine : A mature wine. An extremely rare wine.
- Parker's 1996 tasting: ‘I would say that the most exciting wines of the twentieth century are the 1947 Pomerols....
- The 1947 L'Eglise-Clinet is a tour de force of winemaking. It is one of the greatest wines I have ever tasted. If only it could be awarded more than 100 points! Opaque purple in colour, with a huge nose of black cherry, blackcurrant, mocha, coffee, tobacco and Asian spices, it is extremely full-bodied, with layers of glycerin, extract, ripe fruit and very high alcohol. This huge, massive wine is exceptionally well-balanced. L'Eglise-Clinet must be the sleeping castle of the century! Unfortunately, low production has meant that few people have ever tasted this wine.’
Do you know Château l'Eglise-Clinet?
Château l'Eglise-Clinet benefits from a remarkable terroir, characterised by sloping clay and gravel soils, which allow optimum drainage of the vines. These privileged geological conditions, combined with a very favourable climate, allow us to produce exceptional wines that rival or even surpass some of the greatest red wines of Bordeaux. The blend of grape varieties is also carefully chosen, with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, emblematic grape varieties of the Bordeaux region, in perfect harmony with the terroir and climate of this location.
