Order wine : Château l'Église Clinet 2004
Pomerol
94/100 Parker
The 2004 Château L'Eglise-Clinet needed 30-40 minutes to open up in the glass before offering up scents of blackberry, brioche, leather and black truffle that are very harmonious and build in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, with grainy tannins, a slightly powdery texture and infusions of black pepper and clove on what appears to be a structured, masculine finish, typical of this vintage. However, it is well balanced and quite long on the palate. This is certainly a remarkable wine for the vintage, a L'Eglise-Clinet that should age well for another 10-15 years. This is a classic Pomerol and a classic L'Eglise-Clinet from Denis Durantou. Tasted in February 2016.
