Tasted by William Kelley in December 2023: ‘A wine that wins my nomination for “wine of the vintage” is L'Église Clinet 2012, a fleshy, enveloping Pomerol that evokes cherry and dark berry fruit intermixed with licorice, spice, pencil lead, truffle and rose petals. Full-bodied, broad and textured, it is sumptuous and expansive, with tremendous core depth, supple tannins and a long, resonant finish. Flawless, charming and impeccably balanced, this wine transcends the vintage and, while deceptively drinkable today, remains a mere teenager at age 11.’
