- Tasted by Lisa Perrotti-Brown in 2021: "The 2018 Chateau Margaux is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, representing 36% of this year's crop. The wine has a pH of 3.8 and an alcohol content of 14%. Deep purple-black in colour, it unfolds slowly to reveal tantalizing aromas of creme de cassis, wild blueberries, and Black Forest cake, with hints of red currant jelly, rose essence, dark chocolate, and cedar, as well as a touch of star anise. The powerful palate is bursting with opulent layers of black fruits, fragrant earth and flowers, supported by a rock-solid structure, exquisitely ripe, finely grained tannins and a backbone of freshness, finishing with fantastic length. This is the authentic Margaux in all its seductive glory, though it is surprisingly accessible and absolutely delicious now. But, to enjoy it in all its glory, you'll want to cellar it for at least 6-8 years, then watch it metamorphose over the next 40."
