The story
Louis Mitjavile, nicknamed “Loulou”, is the son of François Mitjavile, an iconic Bordeaux winemaker. He carries on the family tradition at Domaine de l'Aurage, located in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. The Mitjavile family is renowned for its meticulous approach to viticulture, focusing on the Merlot grape variety and paying particular attention to every stage of production, from pruning the vines to selecting perfectly ripe grapes. Their aim is to create powerful, tannic wines that can be enjoyed young without the need for long cellar ageing. Louis maintains this tradition, producing wines with the same precision and tannic structure as the other family crus, asserting, “We don't change our guns! 45 years and counting!”
