Tasting by Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Pure presents the classic tight, sappy, fairly full-bodied profile that this cuvée normally exhibits early in its life. Black cherries, blackcurrants, licorice and sappy herbs emerge from this balanced, well-structured and solidly concentrated 2014 which will benefit from 2 to 3 years in the cellar and will then keep for a decade.
The vineyard, handed down from generation to generation since the 14th century, covers 15 hectares of a unique terroir of sand and pebbles, almost half of which is planted with century-old Grenache.
The Pure cuvée embodies the balance, authenticity, sobriety and passionate character of the appellation. Imagine a passion that takes root in a single plot with century-old vines and pure sandy soil...
This wine is a tribute to Châteauneuf du Pape through its king grape variety
Grenache. A subtle blend of raspberry, cherry and liquorice aromas coated with spices, it expresses pure finesse, an escape, a perfect harmony between generosity and power.
