Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2020 Colombis - Isabel Ferrando
Saint-Préfert - Isabel Ferrando
(94 - 97)/100 Parker
Cellaring potential: 2025 - 2038
Joe Czerwinski's tasting note on May 5, 2022: "Made from three parcels of old vine Grenache (70-80 year old vines), the 2020 Châteauneuf du Pape Colombis seems to be another fantastic example of this vintage, bursting with cherries and raspberries and nuanced by delicate sprigs of garrigue and notes of roses and black tea. Silky-textured on the palate, it finishes with extraordinary length and subtly built tannins. This is a 2020 that could take a few years to blossom."
This estate is being restructured as Isabel Ferrando plans to unify it with her Isabel Ferrando label under the Isabel Ferrando family. In addition, Ms. Ferrando has informed me that she plans to eliminate the bottles of the Auguste Favier Reserve and the Charles Giraud Collection, combining these lots and the "traditional" Châteauneuf de Saint-Prefert into one combined wine. The resulting red range would then include this "new" Châteauneuf du Pape, as well as the Colombis and F601 bottles. Almost everything she has done so far in her management of this estate has proven to be gold, so consumers should look forward to the new line."
