The Château de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin was made mostly from very old Mourvèdre vines, producing small quantities of intensely ripe and concentrated fruit, but only in rare years. The lucky ones who tasted it will never forget it. "A great wine".

By Jeb Dunnuck in 2015: "I've been fortunate enough to have the 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage A Jacques Perrin on numerous occasions recently and it has never failed to deliver everything I'd expect from a wine. With the best Grenache parcel on the estate and a radically different blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, and the rest Syrah and Counoise, this is a massive, concentrated Chateauneuf that, surprisingly, still seems to show its Mourvèdre component to the fore. Blackberries, kirsch, truffles, game meat, licorice and earth make way for a full-bodied, seamless and impeccably balanced wine that carries its huge core of fruit with remarkable freshness and grace. While it will no doubt continue to evolve gracefully, it is brilliant today."
