Made from vines averaging 50 years of age on clayey sand soils topping tuffs, the 2018 Saumur Blanc La Haie Nardin displays an intense straw yellow colour and opens with intense, elegant fruit on a mineral background. Vinified in 25-hectolitre Austrian foudres for nine months, it is a full-bodied, fine, salty-spicy Chenin with a compact, taut structure, a lasting mineral finish and fine tannins. This is another Best Buy Saumur from Thibaud Chevré. Tasted in April 2021.
