Corton Grancey Grand Cru 2002 in Jéroboam - Louis Latour
Louis Latour
Description : "Grancey" was the name of the last owners of the château located on the road to Corton, before the Latour family bought it in 1891. This wine, produced by the Maison Louis Latour, is unique and exclusive. It is a blend of five parcels of the Latour Corton Grand Cru estate: Bressandes, Perrières, Grèves, Clos du Roi and Chaumes, whose proportions vary according to the vintage. The average age of the vines is over 40 years. After individual ageing, only the best barrels are blended to create Château Corton Grancey. It is a wine that is only produced if the grapes are perfectly ripe; vintages deemed inferior are systematically downgraded.
Fermentation : Traditional in open vats
Ageing : 10 to 12 months in oak barrels, 35% new
Barrels : Tonnellerie Louis Latour, French oak, medium toast
Tasting note: This Grand Cru has a beautiful garnet colour and a distinct nose filled with aromas of leather, spicy fruit and oak. On the palate, this bold wine, with balanced acidity and tannin, explodes with cherry, candied fruit and vanilla flavours, all complemented by notes of leather and oak. An impressive and powerful wine.
Food pairing : Wild boar - roast beef - roast quail - duck with orange sauce - mature cheeses.
