The 2018 vintage: It is characterized by exceptional climatic conditions. The flowering takes place in the best conditions, with a historically abundant output of grapes. A few rainy episodes at the end of spring complicated things a little with an attack of mildew, but the fine weather then settles in until the harvest, which takes place in idyllic conditions. The wines look magnificent.
Description : The 30 hectares of the Coudoulet de Beaucastel vineyard are located just east of the Beaucastel vineyard, on the other side of the A7 freeway. For reasons that will become obvious, it is often considered the baby of Beaucastel. When we look at the soil of Coudoulet, we find that there are many similarities with that of Beaucastel. It is composed of Miocene marine molasses covered by an alpine diluvium. This cover of rolled pebbles contributes a lot to the Beaucastel wines: it stores the intense heat of the Mediterranean sun during the day and slowly restores it to the vines at night. This allows a good start for the vines in the spring.
Location : Eastern part of the Beaucastel vineyard, 30 hectares in the Côtes du Rhône appellation.
Terroir : Miocene marine molasses covered by an alpine diluvium (rolled pebbles), identical to that of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard.
Elaboration: Manual harvest, sorting of the harvest on arrival at the winery, heating of the whole grain harvest to 80°C (skin), cooling to 20°C. Classic maceration in concrete tanks for 12 days. Drawing off of free run juice. Pressing in a pneumatic press. Blending of the different grape varieties which were vinified separately after malolactic fermentation. Ageing in oak barrels for 6 months.

- Mourvèdre : 30%.
- Syrah : 20%.
- Cinsault: 10%.
