La Landonne 2008 - Guigal
Cote-rotie - Guigal
94/100 Parker
Cellaring: Now - 2028
Tasted by Jeb Dunnuck on September 14, 2015 : "The most successful of the three Cote Rotie wines in 2008, the 2008 Cote Rotie la Landonne is a candidate for the wine of the vintage. Cigar tobacco, pepper, charcuterie and abundant black fruits all give way to a full-bodied, balanced wine of impressive concentration, with integrated acidity, plenty of fruit and solid ripeness in its tannins. Having chosen to use 100% stems during fermentation, the Guigals wondered if the 2008 should spend the standard 4 years in barrel, but after tasting the wine several times (this father/son team tastes more often - and faster - than any other winemaker I know), they decided to keep it in barrel for the duration. It has absorbed all traces of its barrel ageing and is drinking very well today."
