La Mouline 2010 - Guigal
Cote Rotie - Guigal
100/100 Parker
Cellaring: Drink now or cellar until 2040.
Tasted by Jeb Dunnuck in 2014: " As far as three single parcel releases go, I reviewed the 2010 Cote Rotie La Mouline earlier this year, but was more than happy to taste it again (what luck) for this report. Composed of 11% Viognier and sourced from the steeply terraced vineyards of the Cote Blonde, it offers a divine bouquet of spring flowers, incense, violets, charcuterie, and sweet cassis. Full-bodied, voluptuous and as seamless as it gets, Syrah couldn't be more seductive, sexy or impressive. Give it 5-6 years and drink the bottles over the next two decades or more..."
Grape varieties: 89% Syrah, 11% Viognier.
Vinification: In temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Traditional pumping over. Fermentation : Alcoholic/maceration for 4 weeks.
Maturation: Unique 40 months in new barrels.
Geology of the soil: Vines on terraces in the shape of a Roman amphitheatre. The terroir is composed of gneiss giving light-coloured siliceous soils mixed with calcareous loess.
