La Turque 2012 - Guigal
Cote Rotie - Guigal
98/100 Parker
Cellaring : Drink now or cellar until 2046.
Tasted in 2016 by Jeb Dunnuck: "Similar to La Mouline with its forward, incredibly sexy style, the 2012 Côte Rôtie La Turque (there is 7% Viognier in the blend) offers a saturated purple colour to go with fleshy, smoky notes of black currants, charcuterie, chocolate, and grilled herbs. This is a big wine, with full-bodied richness and a stacked mid-palate, but it has a light, fluid texture, perfectly ripe tannins and a climactic finish. I would happily drink a glass today, but it should be at its best from 2020-2046."
Soil geology: Siliceous limestone soil with micaschists whose alteration has resulted in clay soils, rich in iron oxides.
Grape varieties: 93% Syrah, 7% Viogner.
Average age of the vines: about 25 years.
Vinification: In temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Automatic punching down system. Fermentation : Alcoholic/aceration for 4 weeks.
Maturation : Unique 40 months in new barrels.
Yields : 35 Hl / hectare.
