Direct from the estate - Old name is Daniel Rion
Daniel Rion & Fils is a well-established domaine in Burgundy, a region renowned for its quality wines. Burgundy is famous for its red wines from the Pinot Noir grape and its white wines from the Chardonnay grape. Daniel Rion probably produces his wines from these emblematic grape varieties of the region.
WHAT THE DOMAINE HAS TO SAY:
- This Premier Cru is an atypical cuvée in the Nuits Saint Georges appellation. As its name suggests, it is very round and smooth, reminiscent of wines closer to Vosne Romanée.
- On the palate, it has a marked blackcurrant nose, with exuberant fruitiness. Its suppleness does not prevent it from having great depth, making it a powerful wine with excellent ageing potential.
- In terms of food and wine pairings, it goes perfectly with roast red meats, small game, or good poultry such as Bresse or free-range chicken. It will also go well with many cheeses, provided they are not too sharp.
Serving temperature :
The ideal serving temperature for a Nuits St Georges 1er Cru is between 16°C and 18°C. This brings out the best of its aromas while maintaining the freshness characteristic of Burgundy wines.
Grape varieties :
Nuits St Georges 1er Cru wines are mainly made from the Pinot Noir grape variety, which is renowned for its finesse and ability to express the terroir with subtlety.
