When to drink this wine: 2025 - 2035+.
Tasted in 2023: ‘Dense aromas of black fruits with hints of tar and leather. A bold, powerful wine with a serious tannic structure wrapped in ripe fruit. A long, smoky, stony finish that augurs well for the future. Aged over 18 months in oak barrels, a quarter of which are new.
- Appellation : Hermitage Rouge
- Vineyard: it extends over 3 communes in the Drôme: Tain-l'Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Larnage.
- Soil: granitic, covered with micaschists and gneiss, but also with round alluvial pebbles (this diversity explains the presence of the following localities in the appellation: Bessards, Greffieux, Méal, Roucoule, Beaumes, etc.).
- Climate: sheltered from the north wind, most of the hillsides face south. Good sunshine.
- Area under production: 134 ha, annual production: 3,635 hl; maximum authorised yield: 40 hl/ha.
- Grape varieties: Syrah (15% Marsanne and Roussanne may be added).
- Terroirs: This cuvée is a blend of the following three terroirs: L'Ermite, le Sabot, and the prestigious terroir of Les Bessards. Average production Delas : 30.000 bottles (75 cl.) per year. Grape variety: 100% Syrah.
