Dom Perignon 1996
Champagne - Dom Perignon
98/100 Parker
Expected maturity: 2005 - 2030
Reviewed by Robert M. Parker, Jr. in 2005: "The brilliant Dom Pérignon of 1996, which has largely disappeared from the market, is perhaps the best example of a young DP I have ever tasted. Notes of crushed stone, honeysuckle, lemon oil, orange marmalade and white pear give an astonishing aromatic and taste impression. A great acidity and intensity of taste, supported by a vibrant acidity, make this an exquisite Champagne. It should drink well for 20-25 years or even longer. Readers should remember that the 1971 Dom Pérignon Rose is always exquisitely drinkable. I recently drank the 1969 and 1970 Dom Pérignon (from magnum), and both drink brilliantly. It makes one aware of the longevity of these wines".
