J.S. tasting: ‘Lots of smoke and tar, but also forest fruits and floral nuances enveloping an incredibly powerful structure, with all the concentration that goes with it. Then comes the dense, well-balanced finish, which in no way dominates. This wine comes from century-old Grenache (60%) and Syrah (40%) vines planted in sandy soils. - Blend: The Grenache grapes come from the oldest plot of Domaine de la Solitude, planted by my great-great-grandfather at the beginning of the last century. It is located on the western slopes of the Crau, on a terroir of safres. The Syrahs flourish on the cool safre terroir of Les Blachieres.
- - 70% century-old Grenache noir & 30% Syrah
- These two great terroirs are always vinified separately in the best years.
- Vinification & Maturing : The grapes are harvested by hand in 25 kg crates. After a double selection of the best bunches in the vineyard and on the sorting table, the Grenache grapes are vinified as whole grapes, while the Syrahs are destemmed.
- Vinification takes place in truncated concrete vats. It is carefully matured for 20 months, 80% in barrels. The wine is blended and then matured
