Chateauneuf du Pape 2020 Lucile Avril - Domaine Durieu
Domaine Durieu
97/100 James Suckling
When to drink this wine? To be enjoyed from 2025 onwards, and will keep for decades.
Tasted in 2023 by J.S.: "Smelling this great Châteauneuf is like looking into a deep abyss. Astonishing complexity, with aromas ranging from black raspberry to candied orange, but also hints of raw meat and licorice. Super-concentrated, super-structured, but also more elegant than a wine built on this monumental scale can theoretically be. Extremely long, complete finish. A blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Drink now, but preferably from 2025."

TASTING NOTES :
This cuvée is a selection of the best plots of old Grenache de Châteauneuf du Pape from Domaine Durieu. These wines present at the same time fullness, suppleness, tannic structure, complexity, power and length on the palate. A few years of cellaring will enable it to obtain more roundness and a more elegant, full-bodied taste. depth.
