Sancerre Rouge 2017 Belle Dame - Domaine Vacheron
93/100 Parker
Conservation: 2021 - 2037
By Stephan Reinhardt in 2021: "Vacheron's 2017 Sancerre Belle Dame red opens remarkably well, aromatic and ripe, with stewed or cooked fruit aromas, tending towards plums rather than berries and a touch of caramel on the nose. With further aeration, the wine becomes more precise, flinty and pungent, revealing fresh cherry and potted strawberry aromas. Silky on the opening palate, this is a full-bodied, rich, intense and persistent Pinot Noir with impressive concentration, freshness and finesse. What irritates me a little: I would even accept it in a German Pinot Noir tasting not because of the oak flavours (which I don't pick up on here excessively) but because of the freshness, fruit profile and rather gripping finish. Fürst's Centgrafenberg comes to mind, and that's a compliment. Burgundy is spreading its wings. Tasted in February 2021.
