Beaune 1er cru Les Grèves 2019 Vieilles Vignes - Dominique Laurent
Dominique Laurent's Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Vieilles Vignes is an exceptional wine from one of the Côte de Beaune's most prestigious climates. The Grèves terroir is distinguished by its gravel and fine clay soils, which favor optimal drainage and homogeneous grape ripening. This Premier Cru comes from old vines, some of which are over a hundred years old, whose low yields offer remarkable concentration. Dominique Laurent, known for his artisanal approach and respect for traditional Burgundian methods, carefully ages this wine in oak barrels, some of which are new, bringing complexity and elegance. Each vintage reflects the authenticity of the terroir and the know-how of the winemaker, offering a unique sensory experience.
On tasting, this Beaune 1er Cru reveals a deep ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose is intense, combining aromas of ripe red fruit (cherry, raspberry), violets and delicate spicy and woody notes. On the palate, the attack is silky with fine tannins and a fine structure, supported by balanced acidity that gives it freshness and ageing potential. The old vines add further depth, with nuances of undergrowth, licorice and a persistent finish on slightly smoky notes. This wine is best appreciated after a few years' ageing, and is an ideal accompaniment to refined dishes such as fillet of beef with morel mushrooms or roast duck.
