Edmond et Anne Vatan is a much-loved, if tiny, estate in Chavignol in the Loire Valley. Founded by Edmond Vatan, one of Sancerre's legendary winemakers, who produced almost 60 vintages, the estate was taken over in 2008 by his daughter, Anne Vatan-Foucault. The Vatan family continue to perpetuate their exceptional expertise.

The estate is renowned for its single-vineyard Clos La Néore, a prestigious Sauvignon Blanc parcel planted in the famous Mont Damnés vineyard, in the Sancerre appellation. This cuvée, considered to be one of the most sought-after in the appellation, has a reputation for ageing admirably for decades. Annual production is limited to around 4,000 bottles.

In the past, small quantities of Sancerre Rouge were also produced from Pinot Noir. Edmond Vatan originally owned 5 hectares of vines in Chavignol, but when he retired, he chose to keep only his finest parcel: Clos La Néore.
