WHAT THE DOMAINE HAS TO SAY :
This 2013 red vintage is surprisingly fresh and generous. It has a dense purple hue, with aromas of blackcurrant buds, blackberries and raspberries, subtly enhanced by hints of pepper and tobacco. The attack is well-structured but brief, dominated by the marked acidity characteristic of the vintage, which creates an unprecedented tension, leading to a return to a more classic blend.
We firmly believe in the promising potential of this 2013. It's a generous, straightforward wine, even a little rough, which will need to rest for a few years before it can be fully appreciated. On the technical front, we paid particular attention, as we do every year, to the quality of our grapes, with hand-picking in small crates and a gravity-fed vatting process, in order to respect the fruit as much as possible.
Vinification was light, with few extractions and short maceration periods, with the aim of obtaining supple, delicate tannins, even if this meant sacrificing a degree of concentration that was harder to achieve this year.
Tasting notes: Our Marsannay Es Chezots reveals a rich bouquet of red fruit, delicately accompanied by notes of prune. On the palate, its intense tannins bear witness to its great ageing potential.
