Château Figeac 1990
Saint-Emilion - First Grand Cru Rated B
94/100 Parker
Cellaring : Drink now or cellar until 2035
Tasted by Neal Martin on 31 August 2016: "Tasted at the Chateau Figeac vertical at the property. The 1990 Figeac is drinking gloriously and is perhaps the best bottle I have tasted. It is remarkably deep in colour, in fact deeper and more lucid than many vintages of the 1980s. It reminds me in some ways of the 1990 Lafleur, with its very expressive Cabernet Franc giving off scents of black truffle and cigar ash. There is such clarity here. The palate is medium-bodied and full of graded, earthy black fruit. There's weight and presence here, gently gripping the palate with a long, tobacco-tinged finish that is still very satisfying. There is still something 'old school' about this Figeac, but it would certainly be my choice of this era."
