Order wine: Château Figeac 2021
Saint-Emilion - Premier Grand Cru Classé B
96+/100 Parker
When to drink this wine A great wine for laying down. Keep until at least 2027, and can be cellared for decades (2050).
Tasted by William Kelley in 2024: "A wine that transcends the challenges of the vintage, Figeac 2021 performs brilliantly in bottle, soaring from the glass with aromas of raspberry and cherry mixed with striking top notes of violet, rose petal, iris and mint. Quite full-bodied, satiny and suave, it is pure and vibrant, its enveloping core of fruit framed by ultra-refined tannins, and finishing with a long floral finish. Readers who are used to drinking great Burgundy wines are likely to be seduced by this immensely elegant and fragrant Saint-Émilion, a wine I'm sure to add to my own cellar. It's the result of a gamble that paid off, as the Figeac team chose to wait to harvest their Cabernet Sauvignon despite the threat of rain - a threat that, in fact, barely materialised. The 2021 benefited from a slightly shorter ageing period than usual, 16 months in barrels without fining".
