Order : Les Bournais 2023 Franc de Pied - François Chidaine
Montlouis sur Loire - Franc de Pied
- Tasting: Made from 21-year-old ungrafted vines on clay-limestone soils, the golden-colored Montlouis sur Loire Les Bournais Franc de Pied opens with a deep, fine, even slightly flinty bouquet of tropical fruit (pineapple) aromas intermingled with delicate earthy notes. The palate is intense and quite rich; but fresh, pure and salty; with lots of tension and some lactic characteristics in its flavors and texture. This is a refined Chenin, very elegant and balanced, with fine tannins and a long, intense finish. Very young but with very good aging potential.
- Cellaring : To be drunk from 2027 to 2039+.
GRAPE VARIETY
Chenin Blanc (Pineau de Loire)
VINEYARD CULTURE
The vineyard is run biodynamically. No chemical plant protection products are used. The soil is ploughed. Melliferous and nematicidal plants are sown in the rows. The preparations used come only from transformed vegetable, animal and mineral materials.
SOILS
The soil is clay-limestone without coarse flint elements. The subsoil is made up of Tuffeau, a soft, white limestone rock through which the roots create a passage.
VINIFICATION
After pressing, the alcoholic fermentation is carried out by indigenous yeasts in demi-muids, wooden rooms with a capacity of 600 litres. It can last up to six months. Malolactic fermentation" is not sought after. The wine is aged on its fine lees, still in demi-muids.
