Volnay 1er cru Santenots du Milieu 2023 - François Mikulski
Directly from the wine estate
-
The two plots of land that we exploit come from the family. One was planted in 1947 and the other in 1976.
-
The yields do not exceed 35 hl per hectare, which means that our annual production is around 4000 bottles.
-
The grape variety is 100% Pinot Noir.
-
The vines are cultivated in uncertified organic farming.
-
The subsoil is composed of a brown layer of silt laid on a cracked rock base.
-
The cuvée is vinified in vats for about 15-17 days, then put into oak barrels where it remains for a minimum of 12 months. We use about 35% new oak barrels.
-
The wine produces intense aromas of cherry-red fruits, finely smoked meat, nice freshness in the mouth, blackberry, pepper, liquorice, tobacco-chocolate . It ages very well (10 to 15 years).
-
It can be eaten as an accompaniment to cooked red meat or game. It is also ideal with very good raw milk cheeses.
