Domaine Georges Roumier - AOC Chambolle-Mussigny

It was founded in 1924 by Georges Roumier, who developed bottling there from 1945 onwards. His son Jean-Marie succeeded him in 1957. His grandson, Christophe, took over in 1982, and became the only owner in 1992. Most of the vines are leased to other members of the family. Les Ruchottes-Chambertin are sharecropped with an outside owner, Michel Bonnefond. The wines seduce by their fruitiness, in their youth, while also showing an excellent ageing potential.

Bonnes-mares grand cru

The cuvée is made from grapes from several plots. The one on stony white soils was planted in the 1940s, in 1985 and 1994 (with clones for the last two campaigns). It is located in the upper part of the grand cru, on the Chambolle side, where the soil, thin and stony, always gives quite low yields and quite tannic wines. The one on red soil was planted in 1928, 1973 and 1989 (with clones). It gives a round, rich wine - and the blend made from grapes from these plots results in a very rich, robust and suitable for long keeping grand cru.
