Saint-Joseph 2020 Péalat - Gilles Robin
From the estate
- Cellaring: Drink from 2024 to 2035+.
- Tasting : Quite different in style from the other vintages of the estate, it comes from the Saint-Joseph lieu-dit. More linear and streamlined on the palate, this beautiful wine has mixed berry flavours and intriguing notions of violets and dried flowers, all framed by wonderfully fine tannins, a silky mouthfeel and a lingering, elegant finish.
• To serve: temperature at 16 C°.
• To be served with: Red meats of all kinds.
• This 100% Syrah cuvée comes from a vineyard planted in 1966 on a granite arena soil on the heights of Tournon-Sur-Rhône. Located in the cradle of the appellation. This Syrah comes from a very poor granitic soil, on shallow soils with a mother rock that outcrops. On a very steep hillside, its exceptional exposure is favorable to the best expression of Syrah. Moreover, the Saint-Joseph André Péalat is only produced in a very small volume of about 2000 bottles
• The grapes are harvested by hand, with total de-stemming. The selection of the berries is done on an optical sorting table and the extraction by pumping over and punching down. Then, the André PEALAT cuvée is aged for 12 months in demi-muids.
