Chateau Gloria 2009
Saint Julien
93/100 Parker
When to drink this wine : 2019 - 2035
Tasted by Lisa Perrotti-Brown in 2019: "Medium garnet in colour, the 2009 Gloria rolls out of the glass with seductive aromas of potpourri, Black Forest cake, Morello cherries and raspberry compote with hints of rosehip tea, cinnamon stick and lavender. Quite powerful, it fills the palate with generous layers of red berry jam and exotic spice, framed by velvety tannins, and finishes long and fragrant."
Chateau Gloria is a lighter, more elegant style of Saint Julien that is often ready to drink a few years after its release. But don't let that fool you. This wine can also age very well. It is a Bordeaux wine popular with consumers for its early drinkability, charming character and fair pricing. It is a contender for the title of best Bordeaux wine in the Saint-Julien appellation.
Chateau Gloria has an endearing cigar box nose, almost briny. The palate was once quite tannic and square. It has mellowed in recent years, and remains an undeniably broad-shouldered and robust Gloria, but at the same time undeniably well balanced and fresh.
