Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, is a wine estate located in Pauillac in Gironde. Located in AOC Pauillac, it is classified cinquième grand cru in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification.
The estate has long remained in the shadow of its prestigious neighbours. Nevertheless, the vineyard has not skimped on efforts to come out of the shadows and it has been in perpetual progress since 1990. The quality and variety of the terroirs, the care taken in the cultivation of the vines, the manual harvests carried out in lutte raisonnée for more respect of the vines as well as the modern installations of wine making are as many things contributing to the elaboration of a great wine.
In 2004, the Château Grand-Puy Ducasse becomes the property of CA Grands Crus and invests in the renovation of the vineyard and winemaking facilities. Over time, the estate has continued to improve, offering an elegant, structured wine with a complex bouquet that makes it a classic of the Pauillac appellation.
The Château Grand-Puy Ducasse knows how to make you wait and becomes better from 5 to 8 years in bottle.
Located north of Pauillac, the vineyards border these famous neighbours who are none other than Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Canet Pontet Canet and Château d'Armailhac.
The high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon is noticeable in certain aspects of the wine. Indeed, one will find a more structured wine, with well-concentrated tannins and pleasant complexity. The vines produce 180,000 bottles a year.
The estate also produces a second wine: Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse.
