Sarget de Gruaud Larose 2016
Second wine of Chateau Gruaud Larose
90/100 James Suckling and 90/100 Wine Spectator
Sarget de Gruaud Larose is the second wine of the prestigious Château Gruaud Larose, located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation in the Médoc. Made from a noble blend typical of the region, it combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This combination offers a perfect balance of structure, fruitiness and elegance. Thanks to the estate's know-how, this wine reveals an authentic expression of terroir with a more accessible approach than the grand vin, while retaining a beautiful complexity.
How to serve and enjoy Sarget de Gruaud Larose?
To reveal its full aromatic richness, Sarget de Gruaud Larose is best served at a temperature of between 16 and 18°C. A one- or two-hour aeration in a decanter will bring out all its aromas. On tasting, it offers a refined bouquet of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), enhanced by spicy notes and a subtle touch of precious wood. On the palate, its structure is velvety, with silky tannins and a long, elegant finish. This wine is the perfect accompaniment to grilled prime rib, roast game or a platter of mature cheeses. With an ageing potential of 10 to 15 years, it can be enjoyed young for its freshness, or waited for to reveal its full complexity. A must-have bottle for lovers of great Bordeaux wines.
