Harlan Estate, owned by Bill Harlan, is located in the western hills of Oakville. Harlan is known for his commitment to creating a wine that is a California Premier Cru on par with those of the old world. The entire estate consists of 240 acres, including a family estate and plantations of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Consultant oenologist Michel Rolland and winemaker Bob Levy direct the production of Harlan wines, producing two Bordeaux-style blends: The red wine of the Harlan estate, which bears the same name, and The Maiden. These wines have been very well received by critics and collectors, who demand high prices and a competitive waiting list. Both wines are complex and full-bodied and can be aged for decades. With an opulent style, rich in dense fruit and elements of black currant spice and minerals, Harlan is both graceful and elegant, placing it among the top Cabernet producers in California.
