Looking for a bottle of Château Haut Brion 1945?
Pessac-Léognan - Premier Grand Cru Classé
100/100 Parker: legendary vintage. A very rare wine
- When to drink this wine : Grand Cru at maturity, can be drunk now.
- Tasting notes : Haut-Brion 1945 is profound. It represents the very essence of the Haut-Brion style. The colour remains a healthy, opaque garnet, with a slight amber tinge to the rim. A huge, penetrating bouquet of sweet black fruits, smoked nuts, tobacco and tar flies from the glass. The wine has extraordinary density and fruit extraction, massive, full-bodied, unctuous flavours that reveal little tannin, as well as copious amounts of glycerin and alcohol. This is a fabulously rich and monumental example of a fully mature Haut-Brion showing no signs of decline. An impressive wine!"
SERVICE
Château Haut Brion is best served at 15°C. For wines that have not undergone barrel ageing, decanting is not necessary. Aeration in a carafe is recommended when the wine is young and has been matured in oak barrels. For older wines, it is preferable to decant them a few hours before serving. This can also apply to young wines when aeration is involved. The length of time to open in advance will be determined at the time of tasting, depending on how the wine evolves in the glass. When decanting, be careful not to let the sediment fall into the decanter, as it is never pleasant to have small pieces in your mouth when tasting.
