Looking for a bottle of Château Haut Brion 1953 ?
Pessac-Léognan - Premier Grand Cru Classé
100/100 Parker: legendary vintage. A very rare wine
- When to drink this wine? Grand cru at maturity, can be drunk now or cellared until 2033.
- Tasted by William Kelley in 2022: "One of my favourite vintages from this estate is the 1953 Haut-Brion, a magical bottle of wine that achieves a level of quality that is hard to surpass. It flies out of the glass with a striking bouquet of sweet red berries, cigar box, black truffles, exotic spices, rose petals and incense. It is full-bodied, broad and enveloping, with tremendous concentration and a sumptuous, supple profile that gives the wine immense charm and appeal. The perfect balance and aromatic range of this wine, which finishes with a long, expansive and fragrant finish, must be tasted to be appreciated."
SERVICE
Château Haut Brion is best served at 15°C. For wines that have not undergone barrel ageing, decanting is not necessary. Aeration in a carafe is recommended when the wine is young and has been matured in oak barrels. For older wines, it is preferable to decant them a few hours before serving. This can also apply to young wines when aeration is involved. The length of time to open in advance will be determined at the time of tasting, depending on how the wine evolves in the glass. When decanting, be careful not to let the sediment fall into the decanter, as it is never pleasant to have small pieces in your mouth when tasting.
