Hermitage 2020 - Yann Chave
From the estate
Vineyard : The Hermitage vines are over 40 years old and are rooted in loess soil, guided by appropriate work in the vineyard. Facing south-west, the plots benefit from a long period of sunshine throughout the vegetative cycle, which gives the grapes all the raw material expected by the winemaker to bottle the much sought-after DNA of this mythical Hermitage hill.
Cellaring : 2023 - 2038
Tasting : Notes of pastry crust and cooked plums mark the nose of Yann Chave's 2019 Hermitage, supported by cedar and wood spices. Mostly from Les Beaumes, it was aged in new demi-muids. Full-bodied and intense, with plenty of weight and richness, it is dense and packed with flavor, finishing long and velvety. Although it is relatively accessible, expect it to close quickly and drink well again in 5-8 years.
