When to drink this wine : 2025 to 2050
Tasting by Luis Gutiérrez in 2023: "Château Chalon 2013 comes from a year when the harvest was later, until the end of October. It was a cooler year and caused a few problems when it came to working hard, sorting and throwing the fruit away. Laurent Macle believes that cooler, more acidic years are better for Vin Jaune, particularly for wines with ageing potential, and this wine is an excellent example. It's one degree less than the 2015 I tasted next door, at 14%. It has the vibrancy and freshness of Chateau Chalon's best vintages, with beautifully pure aromas and flavours, a lovely texture and a savoury pungency and salinity that make it very seductive and long. This wine ages effortlessly and should continue to do so for a very long time. This is a superb bottle of Château Chalon from the best producer in the appellation. 4,000 bottles produced."
