Discover our beautiful collection of bottles from Domaine Gerin Jean Michel. Domaine Gerin is one of our partner estates and the wines come directly from the estate.
The GERIN family has been established in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie vineyards, in the village of Ampuis, for 6 generations. The estate's range of wines is dominated by its range of Syrah wines from the Côte Rôtie and Saint-Joseph vineyards, as well as additional vineyard sites in Condrieu supplying the estate's viognier wines.
Jean-Michel Gerin acquired his first vineyard land in Côte Rôtie in 1983. Four years later, he released his first vintage, closely followed by his first single vineyard wine, Les Grandes Places, in 1988 and La Landonne in 1996. The recent release took place in 2009 with the production of La Viallière from a vineyard planted in 2004 in Côte Rôtie.
These single varietal Syrah wines come from south-east facing vines planted on different types of soils, from mica to iron oxide and schist. The grapes are 100% de-stemmed and macerated for four weeks during vinification. Gerin uses 100% new oak barrels to age these wines for 18 to 20 months.
In 2002, Jean-Michel Gerin joined forces with other wine producers Peter Fischer of Château Revelette and Laurent Combier from Domaine Combier to form the label Trio Infernal. Together, they bought an 8-hectare vineyard in Priorat, Spain, from which they produce a range of red and white wines largely dedicated to the traditional grape varieties of Grenache and Carignan, as well as Syrah.
