Saint-Emilion - Grand Cru Rated
Château la Dominique is a red wine produced in the Saint-Émilion region, which is located in the Bordeaux vineyards.
95-96/100 James Suckling
Tasted by Suckling in 2018: ‘Aromas of stone, black cherries, dark berries, moss, forest floor and black olives. Full-bodied, very tight and concentrated, with fantastically polished tannins. The finish is long, very long. First year with a hint of Cabernet Franc. Best in 2022.’
Ageing potential: 2022 - 2036
Grape variety:
Château la Dominique is mainly composed of the Merlot grape variety, which generally represents more than 80% of the blend. The rest is often Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot gives the wine its roundness and richness of fruit, while the Cabernet grape varieties provide structure and more complex aromas.
Food and wine pairings:
Château la Dominique goes beautifully with many dishes of French cuisine, particularly those rich in flavors and textures:
- It goes well with red meat dishes such as roast lamb, grilled beef, or duck breast.
- It can also be enjoyed with game dishes, such as wild boar stew or venison fillet.
- Hard cheeses, such as Comté or Parmesan, are good companions for this wine.
- Dishes made with wild mushrooms, such as a mushroom risotto, pair well with its aromatic complexity.
Operating temperature :
To fully appreciate Château la Dominique, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. This temperature range allows the aromas and flavors of the wine to express themselves optimally without being masked by excessive cold or heat.
