- From a cooler, sandier terroir in the northeastern part of the appellation, the 2011 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Chaupin (which comes 80% from the lieu-dit Chaupin and 20% from the lieu-dit La Janasse, hence the subtle name change) is 100% Grenache, from vines planted in 1912, aged two-thirds in foudre and one-third in demi-muid. Overall, a magnificent wine, with many similarities to the traditional cuvée, but slightly richer and fuller, it offers a nose of magnificent cooked red and black fruits, licorice, spices and mineral and stony nuances. Full-bodied, supple, fluid and elegant, with fine tannins, it makes the most of a difficult vintage and is certainly one of the 10-12 best wines of the vintage."
- 100% Grenache. Vineyards planted in 1912 for the older ones.
